The Handsakers are feeling the holiday spirit, last week we put up our tree and decorated the house... having a fake tree makes that a lot easier! We decided that despite the fact that Georgia is now days within being off of immune suppression for three months which should give her a full immune system, we'd stick with the fake tree we bought last year. We're not exactly the type to push the envelope when it comes to her health and well, we own it, let's use it!
Georgia made decorating the tree really fun this year, she pulled out boxes of ornaments and as she unwrapped each one would say in the most heartfelt voice, "beautiful!" she was especially excited when she unwrapped ornaments that she knew were hers. As we were busy hanging, she opened one and said, "mama look, a present" and proceeded to rip off the bow, I let her know that it wasn't a real present but one to hang on the tree - oh well, everything is better with a little glue.
Tis the season to believe and believe is what this family does. I put up our Christmas card from Georgia's second Christmas, the first since diagnosis, I think I'll put it up for a very long time, never forgetting what you can achieve when you believe. Along the way we've been given and I've bought a few other reminders that will keep that spirit alive.
Oh Christmas Tree
