Lake Thomas.. a little piece of heaven

Brian has a book on northwest hiking and camping and under the section that covers Lake Thomas it refers to this area as god's country because of it's beauty. Every summer growing up I went to Lake Thomas with my mom, sister, aunt and her girls. We grew up going to a cabin that my great grandfather built, this is the same cabin that my mom also grew up going to... needless to say this place has a lot of special memories. A few years after my mom passed away my aunt bought a cabin three doors down from the original cabin, we are so thankful to be able to continue this family tradition. This year I was thrilled to introduce my daughter to a place that I refer to as a little piece of heaven.

Mixing up bath time

Tonight I decided to do bath time a little differently.. we used the kitchen sink. Now that Georgia can sit up so well I thought it would be fun for her, I think she enjoyed it, but noticed it wasn't her regular tub.

What is this cool thing?

Bubbles.. yum

Ohh a new toy!

Growing

Georgia isn't the only thing that is growing at the Handsaker house.. Brian was determined to plant a garden this year and it is growing so well! I am really impressed that he built the garden and planted everything.. I must say it is pretty cool to go get things for dinner from the backyard! We have zucchini, broccoli and lettuce as well as some herbs right now.. we're waiting on tomatoes, carrots and sunflowers.

Weekend Activities

Today while I was co-hosting a baby shower for my good friend Kristy, Georgia got to hang out with Grammy & Grandpa. Georgia REALLY liked the big bed with the fluffy comforter and lots of pillows! She also got to try some Montana huckleberry/blueberry/oat baby food that Grammy & Grandpa brought back for her!

I can feed myself.. wait which way does this thing go?

Yum.. thanks Grammy

Princess and the pea?

Congrats Kristy!

Back together after our fun filled days

Camping on Whidbey Island

Last week we decided to kick off what we hope to be an annual camping trip. We had a lot going on but I was pretty adamant about making it happen.. even if it was only for one night. Well, all I can say is.. was it WAY more effort that it was worth for 24 hours.. yes, am I glad we did it anyway.. yes. We went to Whidbey Island where Georgia had a great time and discovered dirt.. sitting on a towel then blanket she pulled both back just to run her hands through the dirt. We also tried out out backpack for the first time and it went well so there will be some hikes in our future.. I never thought I would look forward to that but Georgia has changed my outlook on a lot of things!

Finally packed up and ready to go..

Yay.. camping!

Ohh campfire!

All bundled up!

Who says you can't be fashionable while camping?

Eight Months Old!

Georgia, I can't believe that you are 8 months old today! Time has been flying and you have made every minute so fun. You are sweet and funny, you love to cuddle and make a lot of noise. You give hugs and are starting to give (big) kisses.. just in the last few days you have started to roll all around so it will be no time before you are crawling (eek!). You are an absolute joy, daddy and I couldn't love you any more!

Recently when Nana was over she asked what surprised us most about being a parent.. Brian's response "I didn't know how much fun it was going to be!"
